About me

A little background

I was born and raised in Monza, a small city near Milan, in the northern part of Italy. I've always been creative and curious, even as a child, and you would often find me with crayons in my hand drawing something up. I fell in love with computers and technology after buying my first PC, a 386 Compaq!

In 2006 I decided to embark on a new adventure and flew all the way to Sydney, Australia. I've been calling this vibrant and multicultural city home for the past 10+ years.

The past decade has been all about finding the right medium to express my abilities and developing my professional skills.

My skills

I worked for more than 6 years in the printing industry, in one of the busiest Snap franchises in Australia. This experience has helped develop both my creative and technical skills. Attention for details, strong organizational skills and good comunication were paramount for the task.

Early in 2017 I decided to enrol in a Web Development Immersive 3 month long bootcamp style course at General Assembly. I've always been interested in and fascinated by coding, especially for the Web. The course was a wonderful experience and helped me craft and strengthen skills in the following stack and tools:

  • html5HTML5
  • cssCSS3
  • javascriptJavascript
  • jqueryjQuery
  • reactReact
  • rubyRuby
  • railsRails
  • herokuHeroku
  • githubGithub
  • sketchSketch
  • photoshopPhotoshop
  • illustratorIllustrator

My interests

In addition to keeping up to date with the latest technologies and innovations, I like listening to music, reading non-fiction books, trying the latest food craze and go coastal/bush walking.

Traveling and exploring new places also play an important part in my life. Discovering and immersing myself in new and different cultures and environments are something that greatly inspire me. It was during a trip to Japan over 10 years ago that I decided to experiment and challenge myself by relocating to a new country.

Over the past 2 years, I also found a passion for film photography and vinyasa yoga. I find joy in these two activities because they both help me slow down and find presence in the moment. I think this is something important to engage with, especially in the fast-paced and overstimulating world that we live in!

Projects

Avantis is a simple project management web application based on scrum agile methodology. The scrum master can log in to his dashboard and create new projects, create new tasks and assign team members to each project. Once added to a project, the scrum team can then access a dashboard to see all the tasks available for that project. They have the option to take or release a task or to mark it as complete. The dasboard part was implemented as a SPA, allowing users to perform operations without refreshing the page every time.

Technologies: HTML5, CSS, Sass, Flexbox layout, Javascript, jQuery, AJAX, Ruby on Rails with PostgreSQL. Cloudinary for picture storage, Moment.js for date handling and deployment to Heroku.

meetUthere is a community web portal for events around Sydney. Users can look for all upcoming events and, once signed in, mark themselves as attending or maybe attending. They can also create their own events and add a description, location, time and a picture to each new entry. A user can also view his dashboard, where he can access all created and planned events.

Technologies: Html5, CSS, Sass, Bootstrap, Javascript, jQuery, Ruby on Rails with PostgreSQL. Cloudinary for picture storage and deployment to Heroku

The newly established library for the General Assembly Sydney campus was in desperate need of a website. I collaborated with 2 other talented developers to bring it to life! Students can access the library online and see what books are available. Upon registration, they are able to reserve available books or to enter a waitlist while waiting for availability. They can also request for new books to be added to the library. Everything is managed by a library admin, who can see all the new loan requests as well as new book reqests to be added.

Technologies: HTML5, CSS, Sass, Javascript, jQuery, Ruby on Rails with PostgreSQL. Algolia search, Sendgrid email system and Google Books API integration.

It all started with the famous Tic-Tac-Toe game! This project was coded just a couple of weeks into my General Assembly course. The focus was to try and keep the user interface and output separated from the game logic. The UI is very minimal and clean with lots of visual cues, prompting the user to act without the need for instructions.

Technologies: Html5, CSS, Javascript, jQuery.
